To answer the challenges of Indonesia as the center of the world’s bio-based economy, the lecturers who are members of the Chemical Engineering Community are of the opinion that undergraduate education in the field of bioenergy production and chemurgy should be carried out by a separate programs, because this field is the center pillar of the bio-based economy in the future.
Department of Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy is a pioneer and the first programs in Indonesia, which consists of two main words, namely: Bioenergy and Chemurgy.
- Bioenergy is renewable energy available from materials derived from plant sources.
- Chemurgy is a branch of applied chemistry that is engaged in the processing of industrial products from agricultural/plantation raw materials.
Department of Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy discusses and focuses on science and engineering based on chemical/physical processes to increase the added value of a material/material on a commercial/commercial scale along with its production facilities and made from renewable natural materials.
The Department of Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy is located in Labtek IIA and Labtek IIB, Campus ITB Jatinangor.
