Prof. Erik’s Visit and Curriculum Discussion

On Tuesday, June 28, 2022, Prof. Erik Herres from the University of Groningen, The Netherlands took the time to attend and discuss the curriculum and development of cooperation at the Faculty of Industrial Technology, ITB. Prof. Erik is a member of the Advisory Board of the Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy Program

On this occasion, Prof. Erik conveyed various agendas of collaborative research and education activities that are trying to be initiated between academics in Indonesia and the University of Groningen, including the dual-degree program for Masters and Doctorate between ITB and Groningen University. This collaboration will include joint mentoring including opportunities to conduct joint research, sending students, and joint publications.

In this discussion, Prof. Erik also listened to the development of the Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy Program both in terms of program progress and also the curriculum presented by the Head of the Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy Program. The discussion became more interesting because Prof. Erik also shared his experiences related to the development of bioenergy and chemurgy at the University of Groninger, for example in terms of student interests, teaching methods, and curriculum. Many of the inputs given by Prof. Erik related to the curriculum that could be developed by the Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy Program ITB. This discussion was also attended by GKM Program.

As part of the appreciation, in the evening a group dinner was held which was attended by the FTI dean. It is planned that the Program will conduct detailed discussions related to input from Prof. Erik through online discussions as part of the continuous improvement of the existing curriculum.

The Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy Program expresses its gratitude for the visit and input from Prof. Erik and the warm welcome for his arrival to the Dean of FTI ITB. Hopefully there will be a closer and mutually beneficial cooperation in the future.
