To answer the challenges of Indonesia as the center of the world's bio-based economy, the lecturers who are members of the Chemical Engineering Community are of the opinion that undergraduate education in the field of bioenergy production and chemurgy should be carried out by a separate programs, because this field is the center pillar of the bio-based economy in the future.
Department of Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy is a pioneer and the first programs in Indonesia, which consists of two main words, namely: Bioenergy and Chemurgy.
Department of Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy discusses and focuses on science and engineering based on chemical/physical processes to increase the added value of a material/material on a commercial/commercial scale along with its production facilities and made from renewable natural materials.
The Department of Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy is located in Labtek IIA and Labtek IIB, Campus ITB Jatinangor.

The history of Department of Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy began when the science of bioenergy and chemurgy became a sub-department in the Department of Chemical Engineering ITB in 2013. Furthermore, after the approval of the ITB Senate, the Department of Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy was officially established in 2014 and accepted new students in 2015.
The inaugural lecture of the Department of Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy was held in August 2016 for 2015 students. This inaugural lecture marked the start of a new journey of this programs which is expected to contribute to the independence of the nation in managing Indonesia's natural resources in the vegetable sector.
Department of Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy received BAN PT accreditation with B status.
The Department of Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy was established and developed to participate in tackling national issues and prepare the nation to face global competition, especially independence in the management of vegetable materials in Indonesia. The experts produced are not only competent in the field of technology, but are also able to innovate in the renewal of post-harvest systems that are globally competitive, follow scientific developments in the international world, and are based on the Vision, Mission, and noble ideals of ITB. In carrying out these functions and roles, the programs is based on the following Vision and Mission:

prepare graduates who are able to become experts in the field of bioenergy and kemurgy and play an active role in the process group for renewing the bioenergy and kemurgy development system locally and globally.
The Bioenergy and Chemistry Program is a cognate engineering Program with a Chemical Engineering Program. The Bioenergy and Chemistry Program will be developed to participate in tackling national issues and preparing the nation to face global competition. The experts are not only to be competent in the field of technology, but also able to innovate in post-harvest system renewal that is globally competitive and follows scientific developments in the international world.
The objectives of the Dept. of Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy, ITB:
1. Berkembang dalam keprofesian dengan mempraktekkan prinsip-prinsip dan metode-metode Teknik Bioenergi dan Kemurgi dalam jalur-jalur karir teknik, manajerial, maupun jalur-jalur lainnya.
Advance professionally by applying the principles and methods of Bioenergy and Chemurgy Engineering to technical, managerial, or other career paths.
2. Menjadi anggota tim yang efektif dalam organisasi kerja dengan menerapkan dan mengembangkan kecakapan komunikasi serta kepemimpinan mereka.
Be an effective team member within work organizations through employing and developing their communication and leadership skills.
3. Telah meraih atau sedang menekuni studi pascasarjana dalam bidang rekayasa, sains, bisnis, maupun bidang-bidang studi lainnya yang relevan, sertifikasi atau pelatihan profesional, dan/atau secara aktif terlibat dalam berbagai kegiatan pengembangan profesionalisme di dalam pekerjaan mereka.
Have completed or are pursuing postgraduate studies in engineering, science, business, or other relevant fields of study, professional certification or training, and/or are actively engaged across various professional development activities throughout the course of their careers.
1. Kemampuan mengidentifikasi, memformulasikan, dan merumuskan solusi masalah kerekayasaan bioenergi yang kompleks dengan menerapkan prinsip rekayasa sains, dan matematika dalam pemrosesan bahan bioenergi dan perancangan produk bioenergi, terutama pada skala industri.
An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex bioenergy engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics in the processing of bioenergy materials and the design of bioenergy products, particularly on an industrial scale.
2. Kemampuan menerapkan perancangan rekayasa untuk menghasilkan solusi permasalahan sesuai kebutuhan, dengan mempertimbangkan aspek kesehatan umum, keselamatan, dan kesejahteraan, secara global, kultural, sosial, lingkungan, dan ekonomi.
An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
3. Kemampuan berkomunikasi secara efektif dengan berbagai kalangan.
An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
4. Kemampuan dalam menjunjung profesionalisme dalam pekerjaan yang dilakukan, dengan mempertimbangkan dampak solusi kerekayasaan dalam konteks global, ekonomi, lingkungan, dan sosial.
An ability to uphold professionalism in the work performed, considering the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and solution-oriented context.
5. Kemampuan untuk berperan secara efektif dalam tim, dapat berperan sebagai pemimpin, menciptakan suasana kerja yang kolaboratif, menetapkan tujuan, melakukan perencanaan, dan mencapai target kerja.
An ability to function effectively on a team, able to perform as a leader, create a collaborative work environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet the work targets.
6. Kemampuan merancang percobaan, melakukan analisa dan interpretasi data, serta menggunakan penilaian kerekayasaan dalam menarik kesimpulan dari percobaan rekayasa proses dan produk bioenergi.
An ability to design experiments, conduct data analysis and interpretation, and apply engineering assessments to draw conclusions from bioenergy engineering process and product experiments.
7. Kemampuan dan kemauan untuk mendapatkan dan menerapkan pengetahuan di bidang rekayasa bioenergi, terutama untuk sumber bahan bioenergi khas Indonesia.
An ability and willingness to acquire and apply knowledge in the field of bioenergy engineering, especially for bioenergy material sources unique to Indonesia
