Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy Program Holds Workshop on Malapari (Pongamia pinnata)

On Monday, 23 May 2022, the Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy Program held a Malapari (Pongamia pinnata)-Based Malapari (Pongamia pinnata) Sustainable Bionergy and Chemurgy Industry Development Workshop. This activity was carried out within the framework of research collaboration within the Center for Collaborative Research on Ecosystem Restoration, Bioenergy and Chemurgy between PT. Sahabat Nusantara Technology Innovation (SANTI) and the Research Center for Plant Conservation, Botanical Gardens and Forestry (BRIN) as well as the Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy Program. The workshop which was attended by approximately 50 people was held in the Rectorate Room of the ITB Jatinangor Campus starting at 10.00 WIB.

On this occasion, Dr. Tatang Hernas Soerawidjaja gave an explanation with the title “Investigating the potential for developing the use of pongam oil and its biomass and continued by Prof. Aam Aminah from BRIN delivered a presentation related to the development of upstream research on the Pongam tree.

At the end of the activity, the participants visited the research facilities owned by the Bioenergy Engineering and Chemurgy Program which was guided by Dr. Jenny Rizkiana.

Hopefully this activity can make a valuable contribution to the country in the form of utilizing the natural wealth of plants owned by Indonesia.
