Strengthening Academia–Industry Synergy for Indonesia’s Green Steel Future
On Thursday, 27 November 2025, the Chemical Engineering Program at ITB welcomed PT Tata Metal Lestari for a follow-up discussion on the ongoing Collaboration Agreement (PKS) between PT TML and the Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI) ITB. This meeting marked an important step in advancing joint initiatives in research, innovation, and talent development for Indonesia’s green steel industry.
During the session, both parties explored several strategic programs, including:
🔹 Applied research collaboration on emissions, material recovery, low-carbon processes, Carbon Capture & Utilization (CCU), and green hydrogen
🔹 Internship programs for Chemical Engineering students with a focus on process engineering and environmental sustainability
🔹 Guest lectures & knowledge-sharing on green steel technologies
🔹 Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies and baseline emission analysis for steel coating products
🔹 Implementation planning for joint activities within the PKS framework
This partnership underscores a shared commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s green steel ecosystem through evidence-driven research and industry–academia collaboration. The initiatives aligned here contribute directly to SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure) and SDG 13 (Climate Action), supporting the nation’s broader decarbonization roadmap.
Thank you to PT Tata Metal Lestari and the FTI ITB leadership for the productive discussion and continued collaboration.
Together, we move toward a more sustainable and resilient industrial future.
